Briefing and feasibility study leading to full documentation of the basement (plinth) areas within the National Library.  A complex project involving space planning of offices, back of house restoration facilities, storage and robot collection, security control centre, loading docks and quarantine assessment spaces and storage function. The resulting areas provide light and views to an internal courtyard space (previously un-utilised) creating greater amenity for staff work areas.

The refurbishment included the upgrade of associated services, as well as the security control at the main LG2 ‘back of house’ entry and loading dock areas, as well as refurbishment of staff circulation spaces, mail delivery, book shop stores facilities, and provision of accessible and ambulant toilet facilities.  It included a new staff kitchen and breakout area, meeting room, and new photography areas.

The refurbishment works LG2 North project received a NLA Director General’s project excellence award for improvements in staff moral.
